In PÖFF's Rebels With A Cause competition that defies the methods of conventional film production, 12 short films and animations from Japan, Côte d'Ivoire and elsewhere will be shown.

Will Niava's Element (Côte d'Ivoire, 2023), in which a group of young delinquents try to find new ways to make a living in the markets of Abidjan, will have its European Premiere at PÖFF Shorts.

Two films from the Rebels With Their Shorts section will have their World Premiere. Directed by Carmel Loukas Lockshinsky, Monkeys (Israel, 2023) puts the blood bond of brothers to the test when one of them is offered the opportunity to leave his mentally disabled brother. Filmmaker Jack Turits on the other hand explores the cruelty hidden in all of our everyday lives through various stories in Pun Intended (USA, 2023).

"In the face of an absurd world, an absurd response can be expected. Sometimes satirical, sometimes shocking, contemplative or confrontational these films are always thought provoking," explained programmer Laurence Boyce.

The international short film and animation festival PÖFF Shorts will take place from 7 to 15 until November with screenings in Tallinn and Tartu.
The entire festival programme will be announced on October 26.

The festival is presented by Elisa nad Metropol Spa Hotel.
