We don’t just laugh because we find things funny. We don’t chortle when we hear a magnificent piece of wordplay or masterful piece of slapstick just because we’re indulging in a moment. We laugh because we need to. In the face of a world that sometimes feels both dark and ridiculous, we laugh because it makes us feel better. We laugh because it helps deal with a world in which laughing is sometimes the only response.

The films in this year’s Black Nights Comedy all have a certain satirical bite – taking swipes at the norms and values of European society in a careful and considered way. But amongst this careful take down of modernity, the films here are also unafraid to revel in downright silliness with some glorious flights of fancy and general insanity.

So come and have a laugh with us. Enjoy the fact the comedy and silliness still exist in the world. And then we can all be together to enjoy it.

The 10-minutes cartoon film tells the tragic story of a little lamb with the help of multiple Zoetropes, loosely based on the well-known Grimm’s fairy tale ‘Little Red Riding Hood’.The roles of the humans and animals are exchanged. The human characters in the film are depicted as anthropomorphous animals. The animal in the story, the big bad wolf, is here a human being.
