Ripples - Live Action Documentaries 2

This documentary film programme delves into how collective resilience and compassion can inspire change, whether through forgiveness, companionship, and the preservation of identity. The community holds the power of collective resilience. In different parts of the world communities come together to uplift youth, while the residents of a suburb of Chicago find themselves rallying to a beloved community figure. The human connection may be forged through the companionship in illness or while seeking sanctuary. There are also the ones who seek their identity through heritage and tradition in a modern world. We are also given the opportunity to observe a growing sports community and the secret life of a Berlin metro driver in a concrete jungle. Some of our characters have found their communities, while others are still searching, to continue to heal and grow.

The film shows the emotional journey of a South African man coming from a harsh background, experiencing and growing up with violence and prison. We show how you can reach personal and emotional growth through forgiveness. Shot locally in the Cape Flats - a region and community often overlooked and overshadowed by the bustling beauty of Cape Town. The film has also sparked an initiative which aims to help young people from the estate gain access to the local film industry in Cape Town.

In a world where identity is becoming increasingly colorful and experimental, your heritage serves as an important compass to know where you are heading. Some long for a safe home, while others seek the freedom to differentiate themselves. Each with their own version of what could be considered typically Frisian. Does the true Frisian exist?
