Kate Bush, shtetls and human courage

The short film collection "Legacies of Conflict" brings to the screen stories that remind us how fragile human courage can be and how necessary hope is.

At the screening on Wednesday, November 19, audiences will see two European premieres and several Baltic premieres — among them the music video “Little Shrew”, directed by British singer Kate Bush.

The short documentary “Extinguished Lives” (Lithuania, USA, 2025) by director Roberta Grossman, which tells the story of a young bride and her husband fleeing the Nazi onslaught, was created in cooperation with the Lost Shtetl Museum dedicated to preserving the memory of the Yiddish-speaking shtetls. The film’s European premiere will be attended by the director, producer, and museum representatives.

Also having its European premiere is Marianne Barakat’s “Siham’s Daughter” (France, 2025), a short drama about a woman returning to her mother’s village in Lebanon to sell the family home.
