PÖFF Shorts EFA nomination and Rebels with A Cause winners announced at the 27th Black Nights Award Ceremony.

The EFA nomination for Best Short was awarded to Stephen Vuillemin's Kind of Testament (France, 2023). In the film, a young woman comes across animations on the Internet that have clearly been created from her private selfies. An unknown female with the same name confesses to identity theft. But death is quicker than the answer to the question: “Why?”

The film screened as part of the international Animation Competition won by Olivér Hegyi's The Garden of Heart.

The Award for Best Short Film in the Rebels With A Cause Competition went to Element (Côte d'Ivoire, 2023) by director Will Niava.

Jury members Jim Stark, Mania Akbari and Andrius Blaževičius noted: "From Côte d'Ivoire, a country not known for its cinema, comes this beautifully shot and acted film of a young street hustler who nearly loses his life in the blind pursuit of money."
